Ellie Barmish is a founder of Above Public Affairs and has spent nearly a decade inside the rooms where policy gets made and public opinion gets shaped — from Capitol Hill to national and local advocacy work, to legislative and boardroom strategy sessions. Her breadth of experience spans campaigns, legislative advocacy, communications, digital strategy, social media, and coalition building.
While Ellie’s career began in Washington D.C., she has worked for advocacy organizations, nonprofits, and national public affairs firms. Today, Ellie brings that full range to Above’s clients — aligning stakeholders, building coalitions that hold up under scrutiny, and driving the kind of proactive strategy that keeps organizations ahead of the story rather than reacting to it.
Her work spans Fortune 500 companies, industry associations, developers, and nonprofits, with a range of experience across industries from energy and education to land use, municipal government, and healthcare.
Ellie is a native Austinite, and holds a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Rhodes College and serves on the board of CleanTX.
